Singapore wins big in the Medalist Asia-International 2010 - Day 1

Team Singapore finally returns from Taipei yesterday (22nd) after winning many trophies and enjoying excellent darts and challenge with all the other Medalist darters from Asia and around the world.

Medalist Asia-International Tournament is an annual tournament with mainly Asian plus a few other European and American Medalist players. This year, the event is the biggest AI tournament ever and hosted in Taipei, the capital city of Taiwan. More than 400 darters descended on Huashan Creative Park, a conserved area of buildings popular with the local creative arts and music scene.

With such a large group of darters from various background put together, the mood was exciting, the games were challenging, the pit marches were exhilarating, the pit girls were pretty and final pit was just beautiful - what more can you ask for? The organizers had done an excellent job putting the whole tournament together. Congratulations to Medalist Taiwan!

On Day 1, the players were feeling nervous and jittery. Everyone was trying to get accustomed to the environment, the throwing areas and the process involved. The introduction of all the Medalist countries involved in the competition were made: Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, HK, Taiwan, Japan, Korea, France, Spain, USA. Everyone was excited with the prospect of meeting and playing with various players from around the world.

First day results for Team Singapore were quite subdued though, the biggest win being Joint 3rd positions from Kelvin Chia/Zann Hu and Kent Ong/River Ang.
