Pirates Plunder replaced with x01

Its official now, the Puma Pirates Plunder Event has been replaced with Puma x01 Event.
This was due to the game not being able to re-show the score upon the completion of the game. As it may cause confusion when players did not write down or forgot the scores, we decided to substitute it with the x01 event. However players can still try out the game in between your games on the practice board at the tournament hall.

Another important point of note is that all cricket games will have the starting handicap number change. Instead of starting the handicap at 17 (then 16, 15 and score at 15), it will start at 16 onwards. This will apply to all cricket games played during the championship (day 2 onwards).

For the detailed schedule of all the 3 days, please refer to the program schedule

More on Singapore Championship 2009

It seems some players have been visiting the tournament location (360° by Tornado) in hopes of getting used to the location before the big event. Just to let you know the location is not open yet, in fact it is still under renovation. The location features a semi-circular darts hall along with 3 huge projection screens. Renovations are only expected to complete around mid next week, so you can save yourself a trip there. However, the shopping mall itself, Iluma, is open. There's a cinema and an arcade games section on the 5th floor. There's also a floor dedicated to restaurants.

Have you sign up for the tournament yet? Please do so today, registration must close this weekend.

New games coming!

Darters Alert!
New boards and games will be launched at the upcoming Medalist Singapore Championship 2009 to be held next weekend. Along with the new games, boards with the larger LCD screens will also make their introduction. The new Spectrum E-tec machines will certainly revolutionize the way electronic darts is played and provide new fun excitement for you all over again.

Let me introduce one of the new games that will also be held as a tournament event at the Singapore Championship 2009 - Pirates Plunder. You may have already seen screen shots of it on this website home page or on the board marked with the "Coming Soon" sign. Well, finally, it's here.

Pirates Plunder is actually quite a simple, fun game. Players have 8 rounds to "plunder" a ship by hitting a minimum number of points according to their ratings. If you hit above the minimum score, you will be able to collect the points that you hit and the ship moves on. If you fail to hit the minimum score, the ship sinks and no points awarded. There is also another higher score which will give you a special "get the gold" points (which starts at 70 and snowballs to the next player if no one fails to collect it). Player with the highest score wins at the end of the 8 rounds.

Have you sign up for the Singapore Championship yet? Join us for 3 full days of darts fun with other players from Singapore as well as some from Indonesia, Thailand, Japan, South Korea, Saipan and Guam. Contact us for details. To be held at 360° by Tornado, located at Iluma, Bugis.

7th Trios League kicks off

The Medalist 7th Trios League season officially kicked off yesterday Monday with the first C flight games. This league's season has a prize money totaling $8000 and with some changes to the rules after feedback from the previous season. The rules were explained to team captains over buffet last Saturday 16th, so players, please check with your captains on the details.

Among the highlights is the move of the snow-ball bingo round from the 3rd player to the 1st player, which tend to be the strongest player in the team. Previously, some players remarked that getting the bingo is more difficult than striking toto! With this change, more teams can shoot for the bingo and have a higher chance of getting it.

There are also 3 groups in B flight and 2 groups in A flight this season - definitely more darters are moving up from C flight and BB flight respectively. More darters can only mean more competition and challenge!

This season also features a record total of 8 new locations! Joining our existing league grounds include new locations like Bojangles, Pink Peppercorn, Estate Bar, 360° by Tornado, No Clue, Cable Car, ReminiZce Cafe and Talk Cock Sing Song. Welcome darters from all the new locations! It will be interesting to visit the new locations while playing away games.

Good darts to all league players!

Team Singapore La Rochelle is unveiled!

In the finals played on 2 May 2009, the top 3 person James Quek, Daryl Lim and Albert Chia was selected to represent Team Singapore in the upcoming La Rochelle darts event in France. Abdul Jamal is the next highest ranking player and the reserve player for the team.

The 18-games final event was an exciting game with Daryl Lim, Albert Chia and Abd Jamal fighting tooth and nail to rotate in position 2,3 and 4. James Quek had a clear lead at pole position right from the start. Albert Chia almost dropped to the 6th position halfway and managed to make a surprising comeback with a strong win in the last cricket count-up game. Daryl Lim managed to maintain his lead for second place by just one point.

These 3 players will be travelling to France in a month's time to play together with Paul Lim. Let us wish these players all the very best in their first European challenge.
